Forty Group gives back

The crew at The Forty Group is volunteering its services for The Julian Center’s 2013 Starlight Ball … and having a great time with the preparations.

We’ve secured the fundraising gala’s keynote speaker (but we don’t want to spill the beans on who it is, so we’ll let The Julian Center reveal that). ¬†And we’re securing the list of professional athletes who will be the special guests at the VIP reception.

The Starlight Ball is the Julian Center’s biggest annual fundraiser. The black-tie party with a purpose will be held at the JW Marriott in Downtown Indy on March 9, and features a silent auction, dinner, dancing and a live band.

The best part is that the money raised throughout the night goes to help women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

We can’t wait to put on our gowns and tuxedos for the 2013 version of The Starlight Ball.

Hope to see you there!

49ers Running Back Jewel Hampton Gives Back

Jewel Hampton, a running back for the San Francisco 49ers, wanted to give back to kids in need this holiday season, and he chose The Julian Center to turn that dream into a reality.

The Julian Center is a safe haven for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The center, which provides on-site residences, a school and counseling services, is based in Indianapolis, Ind., Jewel’s hometown.

After assessing the center’s needs, Jewel decided to buy items to help improve the center’s playroom, where children living at or visiting the center spend lots of time. Jewel purchased bean bag chairs, a 43-inch flat screen TV, a train table, dolls and strollers, board games, etch-a-sketches, race cars and tracks, play mats and more to help make that area in the facility more enjoyable for the children.

Jewel’s mother, Teresa Lewis, and his sisters were on hand at the Julian Center on Dec. 11 to deliver and put together many of the toys.

The look on the children’s faces when they saw all of the gifts Jewel had provided for the playroom was priceless. Directors at the Julian Center are overjoyed with Jewel’s generosity and his willingness to give back to his community.
